Coloring Books for Therapy

“We all know that the appeal of adult coloring books is they offer a meditative escape to a world of inspiration and artistic fulfillment,” says Rod Barker, Founder and President of The Trail of Painted Ponies. “What is different about the coloring experience provided by the Native American Edition is that it also taps into the recognized therapeutic benefits - physical as well as emotional - that are linked to  a relationship with horses, along with the relaxation that comes from feeling a closeness and connection to a people who once lived a simple life, close to Nature. In these pages, they all come together in an unprecedented fashion that is both dreamlike and soothing, and take the positive effects of coloring to a higher level.”

The Trail of Painted Ponies recently partnered with the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), the leading international nonprofit association for professionals incorporating horses to address mental health and personal development needs. Recognizing the synergy between The Trail of Painted Ponies Adult Coloring Book being used as Art/Equine Therapy, The Trail and Blue Star Coloring donated 200 coloring books that were gifted to attendees of a recent Eagala event. Our hope is that The Trail of Painted Ponies coloring books will help provide Eagala therapy groups with a way to incorporate the benefits of coloring as an at home therapy for their participants.

"Many of our clients develop strong bonds with the horses they work with during Eagala sessions. The beautiful and relaxing images in the Trail of Painted Ponies coloring books are an excellent way to help our clients focus on self-expression and mindfulness while giving them a chance to reinforce the learning, self-growth and transformation horses have enabled in their life journeys.”  - Lynn Thomas, CEO, Eagala
